MySQL & PHPBB

Was looking at setting up a PHP forum, and it seems that PHPBB is the most popular choice.

So my question is. How simple is it to install PHPBB on a MySQL database. I have no previous experience with either MySQL or PHP, and was wondering if it's easy enough to accomplish?

I know there are a few places that host/setup a PHPBB forum for no cost or hassle. But i'd like to gain some experience by setting it up manually.

If you want some more user-friendly (and arguably better) forums then try SMF

If you want to be really flash you can get the MKPortal Addon Linky Linky

Its basically an advanced website and content manager based on the PHPBB forum code. Also works with IPB, SMF, Oxygen, vBullitin and MyBB

Excellent Sutff. From reading that, does seem easy enough to do.

To change the topic of the thread slightly, but before i go ahead and do it i was wondering if anyone had any recommondations for a decent web host? I'm currently with FastHosts, but if there is somewhere with a better/cheaper service available i'd be willing to change.
