Mysterious CPU Useage

ok all of my games have gound to a halt

this is probably down to the fact that sat in windows doing absolutely nothing apparently im using 30-40 % of my CPU for something. But the applicates tab reports the system idle process at 99%

what gives ?

what you got running under process? anything odd taking up memory?

ie is taking up 18 megs of memory

only thing higher than that is svchost.ext taking up 25 megs

but ive got 2 gigs lol !

i currently have 7 instances of svchost running, taking up about 20mb.

At the mo they are doing anything, but they kick in when your machine is idle (registry optimistions) and service loading.

Is it causing a problem? Any programme that you start up should take CPU priority

try running spyware/adware/antivirus , see if anything is on your pc?

I use a couple of programs to find out what is exactly running and starting up on my PC. One is Winpatrol and the other is What's Running.Both are freebies . They will tell you ,especiously What's Running what resources are being used .

whats telling you you have 30% cpu usage? Cant be task manager if its also saying 99% on system idle process.
