Lately my pc has been randomly crashing, the screen locks up, and looks like this:

And like this:

It happens when gaming, and even when idling, there doesn't seem to be anything in particular that is causing it. CPU and GPU temps are all perfectly low.

It happened when cpu was overclocked, and still happens when I return to stock clocks.

So, if this was your pc, what would you check first and how would you check? Bear in mind I have no other spare components lying around.

(Q6600, ABIT IP35, 3870X2, 2GB BALLISTIX TRACER, 36GB RAPTOR)

Please throw in any suggestions that you have, I appreciate the help.

PSU is a HX620

I will try memtest... I presume need to download it, burn the ISO, boot into it, and run it for how long?

Yeah, running it for an hour or two should be OK, the more time you can give it the better, if you can let it run overnight it should be able to fully test your RAM.

OK, ran memtest and I don't think it looks good...

Here is what happened throughout a 5-6 minute run.

I have no idea what it means, but it says Pass: 0, so I presume it is failing the tests?

It's 2 sticks of 1gb, so how do I identify which one is faulty?

Can anybody shed some light onto what these errors mean?
I can't seem to find information anywhere.

Its showing you that the second stick of ram is BAD..

EG the memory above 1024mb to 2048Mb is duff..

Try taking one stick out and running it again..
If that passes try the other and see if that passes..

If it does put both back in a run again. or RMA it.

any errors in your memory will make your computer lockup / do funny things.
