Hi all,

Just seeing if anybody has any ideas or has had this before.

I expect the usual responses too as well as some serious ones :D

Any thoughts?? Or will the mystery continue.....

Situation:

Living in flats... A few months ago my friend's flat-neighbour ordered a makeup product from a pretty niche and unknown Chinese brand through Amazon. Product arrived. All was well.

Today, my friend (NOT the neighbour) received the very same product, to her address, with her flat number and her name.

Neither of them can see the product in their order history (other than the initial purchase from the neighbour to her own address months ago).

My friend has NEVER even searched for the product on Amazon and definitely hasn't ordered it.

And the friend isn't (well, doesn't seem to be) just messing about to creep my friend out haha

Get the order number off the box/packet and contact Amazon support to see who ordered would be my suggestion.

Update: They had ordered a phone case and got notification of that being delivered - but instead it seems to be this makeup.

Possibly a suspiciously coincidental product mix-up?

They're on the phone to amazon now

EDIT: According to amazon it does just seem to be an oddly coincidental product mix-up instead of sending the phone case

Ok this is weird, I have had the same thing recently. I order stuff from china fairly regularly, mainly vape related stuff from Fasttech and gearbest.

Last month I came home to an Amazon package, it contained https://www.amazon.co.uk/MiroPure-E...9&sr=8-11&keywords=blackhead+remover+tool+kit

read the 5* "reviews"

Then read the 1* reviews by real people lol

This month, again I come home from work to another unexpected amazon package, this time containing https://www.amazon.co.uk/Angeloo-Gr...=1-1-spons&keywords=cat+grooming+gloves&psc=1

I'm puzzled, google is your friend when puzzled...

Last laugh is on China, because I have a cat, and my mrs used those gloves on him today, and he blimmin loved them!

But yeah, just another trade related scam. China Trade Strong

Seems a bit different I think as the original make-up order was indeed from Amazon.

Strange though.

It is odd that Amazon stopped doing paper invoices in the parcels years ago - but I understand why, wastage etc

Funny that, about a month ago I received 2 packages from amazon. Surprised because I haven’t ordered anything from amazon recently.

Anyhow both packages has my name and address on it. Opened them up and they both had around 10 screen protectors for a Samsung galaxy S8 and a little bag of dog whistles.

Now I don’t own a Samsung galaxy s8 nor do I have a dog.

Bizarre to say the least, checked my bank account and no money has gone to amazon. Checked my amazon account and nope nothing.

Called up amazon and they have absolutely no idea why I was delivered these items.

I asked them what to do with the items and they said keep them lol. In the end I just threw them out as they are of no use to me. I did say I’ll send them back but they weren’t interested.

There was a spate of this going on in the U.S a few months back, people getting plastic wangs and other sex toys from amazon from random Chinese sellers.

Some of this might be due to Amazon FBA long term storage fees. If Chinese sellers send goods to UK Amazon warehouses and they don't sell within a year they have to remove them or get charged ridiculously high long term storage fees.

As you can only order a removal to a UK address (which they likely don't have) I suspect they are just sending them out to random people. It will almost certainly be cheaper to do this for low value products.

I'm not sure where they would get the name and address, possibly if you are a past customer.

Not sure about the OPs scenario here due to the neighbour complication but for some of the others it might explain things.

I've had some problems with Amazon myself. I have my account set up to leave packages on my doorstep if I am not in and Amazon keep delivering to my neighbour instead. I had to send an angry email about it to get it sorted although I did get a free month of Amazon Prime out of it once they had apologised.

Well the mystery is sort of over...

Amazon say it was simply a mistake instead of sending the phone cover. The strange coincidence of the product that was sent instead seems to be just that!

No free chinese wangs... AND they want the makeup back haha
