The new version of myth tv is out...and by the sounds of it...its great!

I've not installed it yet but its put in the features I was really missing.

Digital radio (i've no idea why this needed special support...but apparently so)
Interactive digital things (only in the uk...but thats where we are so its all good)

I used to be a mythTV user, but the misses complained about the noise of our mythtv box, which has since been replaced by a Topfield PVR with a number of custom TAPs (applications for it), and a video sender.

I still miss some of the functionality of mythTV, but most of it's there in the "toppy", in a standard looking box, and quiet :)

Still have the mythTV box tho, so may take a gander at .2 :)

i'm usign an epia...which surprisingly actually has enough power when the on board acceleration is turned on. I'm going to see if I can passify the cpu...it can't be putting out that much heat really. Then it will be fanless.

Unfortunatly I'm largly thwarted by the fact the tv card gets too hot in the box and makes it crash in about 2 hours. I'm going to have to use a usb dongle thingy...which probably won't work as well.

At least it installs with mythdora as opposed to knoppmyth. The new kernels actualy let my card work too!!!

Hi,

what version of the epia board/chip are you using? whats the easyest way to get .2 myth? ubuntu?

cheers

EPIA-SP13000. The lip sync isn't quite spot on but this might be down to settings. It also grinds to a halt now and then but this is probably heat from the tv card. Mythdora is the easiest way to get it working on this board. It has a version with the unichrome drivers installed which is a pain in the bum to do yourself (unless you like recompiling x11 and kernels and whatnot). You can then install the newer version of mythtv from an apropriate repository.

you do need to activate the hardware acceleration though (I can't remember how). But its not hard.

You could try knoppmyth but it doesnt support sata very well and doesnt have the unichrome drivers.
