Mythtv htpc?

How many of you guys are using mythbuntu or similar on a htpc?How do you find freeview/freesat playback? I'm tempted to use it instead of win 7 media centre as I've always found the tv quality lower than that of my actual tv tuner.

Anyone any hints on such a system?

I used Myth about 4-5 years ago, but I think XBMC is more commonly used these days.

Thanks for the reply mate, problem with xbmc is that it doesn't support live tv so thats a no go for me!

Had a HTPC for many years and am very happy with NextPVR (was GB-PVR) for the last few (simple and reliable). From my experience MythTV was too difficult to setup/maintain and Mediaportal too unstable though had lots of features (though I hear latest version is much better).

XBMC does have a media portal pluggin which can be used for recording live tv. I've never played with it though so I can't comment on its reliability.
