Ok so I just got my hands on a black macbook and its sweeet :D

Thing is I want to restore it back to a fresh install of Tiger 10.4. I have stuck the dvd in the machine and tried running the "Install Mac OS X" file but it gives an error saying it cannot be installed on this Macbook.

Is there a special technique to install a fresh copy ?

I'm too used to Windows but I could see me making the switch complely to Mac from what I have seen so far.

Thanks

If you hold down the C button when you turn on the machine it will boot into the installer. Though if it says it is an incorrect copy are you sure that is the cd that was supplied with the machine?

I didnt get a CD with he machine, i bought the macbook off Ebay then i bought a copy of Tiger.

do you have an intel macbook and a ppc copy of osx?
Macbooks are all Intel. Before that they were called iBooks. ;)

However, Mr. DezUk, Mr. Hate is right. You're trying to install the PPC version of Tiger on your Intel Mac. This won't work. You need to get the Intel version that shipped with the Mac. However, these are not available in retail yet. The CDs can only be had with the purchase of a new Intel Mac.

What says the error you get when trying to install?

Spot on, it is a little bizarre that this is the case. We had this issue crop up the other day at work :(

Hmm now I'm having some real problems, leaving work tonight the macbook was taking ages to shut down so I pulled the power and when I try and boot it backup all I get is a grey screen and a flashing icon in the middle of the screen. It flashes between the apple logo , a folder with a question mark and a no entry sign :(
