I currently have a pay as you go phone on Vodafone, a Motorola C350, and I'm fed up with it. The stupid removable covers creak when you hold it and worst, it likes to turn itself off if it takes a slight bump.

I'm thinking of going for the Nokia N70 on Vodafone contract, through CPW who have 15 months half price on a 18 month £35 contract. I don't want to spend a fortune on contract bills as I won't use the phone enough to justify it. But then the N80 looks awfully nice and may be worth waiting for. But I'm guessing the contract deals won't be nearly as good for the first few months.

Am I right in thinking this? Will the N80 be a good improvement?

Yes where from?
The best contract deal I've found for me is Orange, £25 a month with the first 6 months at £12.50, 12 month contract. I'd need to get rid of the stupid Orange homepage though.

My father needs an upgrade on his phone too, the screen is so rubbissh you can't read it outdoors. The upgrades Orange offer though are poor value, so I'll have to try threatening them with a canceled contract. He wants the Nokia simple menu, a nice big easy to read screen and it needs to be reasonably sturdy.
