N73 Camera Slider Problem

Hi,

My N73 camera has decided to stop working, everything else on the phone is fine just when I slide the cover off to reveal the camera the application doesn't load. Nothing happens at all.

I've tried doing a factory reset and that didn't solve the problem, so I'm guessing the back cover is not pressing the right pins or something.

Anyone got any idea how I can launch the camera application without the phone doing it automatically through the slider?

Is there not a camera menu within the menu of the phone??. I dont know as i havent used the n73 myself. Maybe worth taking it back to where you bought it from and get them to fix it or take it to a nokia service centre.

There is but it only works for the secondary camera on the front of the phone.

I've fixed it temporarily I think! The wonders of blu-tac

The camera application in the menu starts the main 3.2mp camera... as long as the cover is open. If not, it'll default to the front camera. As the phone is having trouble detecting that the camera cover is open, that is why even when you use the camera menu icon, it just uses the front camera.

You could always buy a new set of covers 4 about £15.00

Yeah I might just buy a back cover for a long term fix, but the blu tac should last me over the Christmas period!

Well...
Take off the front cover of your phone and tighten the screws (you will need a T9 screw driver)
I learned this, as when I changed my fascia for my N73, and didn't tighten the screws properly, the slider didnt work. Once tightend, the application opens up as it used to. It's a common problem when taking the fascia apart.
Maybe yours has just come loose somehow and just need tightening.

I think it's the contacts, the gold pins that stick up on the back of the phone don't make proper contact with the slider guides on the back cover. Mine did that, t'was pants.
