N8 Has no network abroad

Hi guys, basically i went france couple days back, and was not able to pickup any network, if i try and search on manual, phone does find them but is not able to connect to none of them, as soon as we are back to the uk it works again

Does anyone know what could cause this and hopefully has a solution for this or can advise what can be done?

UK sim? You may have to turn international roaming on your account.

yep, uk sim, not sure if int. roaming is enabled. Do i need to call my provider or is that option in the phone somewhere?

Are you on Orange? If so, you have to manually enable international roaming (by calling them).

Same goes for T-Mobile, you don't with O2 and I'm not sure about the others.

just a quick update, i had to call orange to enable it, thing is, my missus has virgin, and it was same thing, no reception abroad with the handset virgin provided for her, i got her new handset and now everything works. Cheers for help

Had similar thing when I went to Geneva, like you they hadn't enabled international roaming on my account, don't know why they don't enable it from the start to be fair!
