Not got my N95 yet as despite the woman checking they had stock when i was on the phone and getting an email saying it was dispatched it actually isnt and they are expecting stock later this week.

Anyway, my question is can you install some aftermarket software onto the phone to give speed camera locations and whatnot onto the actual satnav.

I dont intend to use the step by step process unless theres a non paying option, but guessing as yet nobody has made a stand alone one.

:)

Edit: Oh and when using the GPS does it tell you speed too?

i would like the speed camara thingy for the gps as for speed it does tell u ive been playin around with it its good once u get a lock on i gave it a test from my house to my aunties a some 34 miles away it took me on a slighty longer route but still got me there

I cant seem to get mine working, what connection do you use? Wap/MMS/mobile web or easy wlan? and did you have to download voices with yours?

i used my wireless router to get the map of the uk as for going out and about trying using contract wap thats what the vodafone 1 is anyway

Have managed to get it working once, but there is an X beside the satilite symbol most of the time. Downloaded the voice commands and it now tells you who is phoning you, preety cool :) Id pay the £40 for the year of sat nav if it worked more of the time lol

you have to wait for it to get a lock this can take ages you can check the satalte satus by looking at the sat status option when you get 3 solid black bars you have a lock

nope no netowrk conenction needed only need that when your getting maps but once you have the map of the uk you don't need it also try going out side and just wait it will evently get a sat lock can take somtime first time i did mine it took 10-15 mins also deponds on weather etc but u will evently get 1

I somewere on the symbian forums i think it was that tomtom are working on a version that will use the inbuilt gps receiver.

Thats great, I think I definately will have to get a N95 when the price is right.

Mine took about 20 mins to get a lock the first time i used it, now it takes around 20 seconds for some reason

I think it looks for the satellites assuming you're going to be near to the location it was last switched off. My sat phone always locked on within 30s (when outdoors) in the UK, but when I first tried it out in Canada it took about 5 minutes to get a lock. After this first time i'm back to 30s lock on time now.

Is paying for the sat-nav service over the phone using a credit card safe? Went to pay for it but was a bit wary in putting in my credit card number and details in.

You can also do it via txt message in the payment options. It's just sends premium rate txts to the value of.

Ok got this and must say its pants, keeps losing signal. Out of a 26 mile journey i stayed locked on for the first mile. It also placed me about 500 yards to the right when it was working, making me look like i was driving through houses. More of a gimmick i think than actualy useful
