Hi all

Got myself an N95 on a year contract with o2 (woot), and want to know peoples recommended software/games for it? also may be a silly question but do I need an Antivirus?

No, anti-virus isn't needed on any S60 v3 phone. :)

I've been looking for cool software/games recently and here's my findings:

Quake (fantastic port, surprisingly playable)
WiiRider (Use a WiiMote to control your phone!)
Fring (VOIP/IM)
Global Race (3D racing game)
Orb (remote media streamer)
Sling Player (costs $20 but really good if you've already got a Slingbox)

I hope this helps.

The free sports tracker on the downloads page is pretty nifty.

Opera Mini 4 beta is a solid browser, and has its strengths over the Symbian browser, but isn't necessarily better.

MGMaps - Mapping software that uses Google Maps, MSN Maps, Yahoo Maps (and satellite). In theory free navigation, but doesn't work for me.

Google Mail - good if you have a Gmail account, and arguably better than using the native email client.

As above, Fring is good (although it has its quirks).

cheers guys.

not being greedy but anymore? :p

Also im trying to connect to wireless networks and keep getting error messages saying something about web gateway after I try and connect. Any ideas?

Symbian v9 (and S60 v3 that's built on top of it) uses a signing scheme for potentially harmful functionality.

If an author wants to write an application that, for example, uses Bluetooth or SMS then they need to submit it to a test house to make sure that they aren't doing anything nefarious. Only applications signed with a certificate will run.

A virus writer would have to get their virus signed somehow, which is very very very unlikely.
