Bad news for folks who have been watching Virgin Media's TV broadcasts for free with one those boxes (I have for 2 years)
Its all about to end soon and some areas like ~Leeds have already changed to the new encryption.
Im really gonna miss all those free channels cos I'd never pay for it.
And NO Nagra 3 has not been cracked and is unlikely to be for along time, if ever.

Its a sad sad time for scrooge's like me....:(
 
It's heart breaking to see people who have been stealing the service getting kicked off.
Although extremely amusing seeing the ones who are in denial :D

Next thing you know they'll be sorting out the modems which will be a real shame when the cloners are cut off, freeing up the resources that the customers have been paying for, improving the service for us.

Just phoned virgin and got nearly all the channels I would watch for a extra £5 a month and they upgraded my phone package for free... sweet and legit!
 
tbh im alright with the basic package ,i get free 24/7 phone calls ,tv and 10m/b internet for £20 month (through retentions) ,thinking about the new free hd box when it comes in

IIRC Nagra3 has been out in some countries for several years without a crack, and most/all of the old methods to crack it have been stopped in the new card types (you can't glitch them as that'll lock them, can't use acid to strip the top layers without a much higher chance of it destroying everything etc).

I suspect they'll get partly cracked at some point, but it will probably be a very long time, especially if certain big companies aren't involved this time round (if some of the rumours about how nagra 1/2 were broken).

Given that VM are looking at a completely new platform in the next few years that is going to be fully IPTV, I suspect this change won't have to last too long (a few years at most, compared to the NAGRA2 cards that haven't been changed in something like 8 years).
 
We use one and they were meant to be cut off on the 23rd of December, or thereabouts. If it does get turned off there isn't a chance in hell we'll be paying for the full thing, the channels are full of **** anyway.
 
Im trying to get it through to my dad that Nagra 3 wont be cracked for some time, but he think its going to happen within a week of when it happens to us!
Going to have get multiroom from them which is about tenner a month perbox i think. We already pay for the XL tv package (no sports except ESPN i think, and no sky movies) and XL broadband, so when the boxes do go off going to tell VM we're leaving them and then see what offers VM will offer us :P Will probably have to get the sports package on top of wat we pay, and might treat myself to a HD+box, does anyone here have 1? are they worth the £75?
Also while im typing i might aswell ask this, if anyone does have VM multiroom and the sports channels (sky sports 1,2,3 extra) willyou get these channels? or is there more to pay to get them in the other rooms
