I currently have my Opteron 146 @ 2.8 with 1.4v going through it, LDT 1.2v, Ram 2.6 and Chipset 1.5v. I'm using MBM5 with the NF4 config to report temps.

A couple of weeks ago my temps were about 38 Idle and about 47 under load. I then removed my IHS, cleaned it up and applied some AS5 and attached my Big Typhoon and booted my system and the Idle temp around 36 and my loads temps were around 43.

I still wasn't happy with the temps so a couple of days ago I revmoed the Big Typhoon, cleaned everything, applied new AS5 and then attached the Big Typhoon but a lot tighter than last time so that there is no movement what so ever between the heatsink and the CPU.

When I booted my system backup my Idle temp was around 30/32. I left my machine running CPU Burn for about 6 hours and I came back just before it had finished and my CPU was about 50. My Idle temp now seems to flost between 36 and 38 and my loads temps are 45.

I'm not sure what this means or what I'm doing wrong but something doesn't feel right. I really thought that removing the IHS and doing the burn in should help but it really doesn't seem to that much of a difference Needless to say that none of this has helped me overclock the CPU but Prime now last for 5 minutes when running at 290x10 rather than failing instantly like it did before. I'm sure that if I can get over this hurdle with my current cooler then I could maybe overclock my chip further. At this stage I really do not want to go to water cooling as an Opteron 165 is next on my shopping list.

Can anyone please help?
