And any tips on what fresh food to give/avoid it apart from pellets.

I used to have a ginger-brown guinea pig called Jeff.

In fact, we had lots at one point - got two girl GPs, one of them was pregnant when we got it, had just one baby, a boy, vet said "don't worry, they're not sexually mature till about 6 months" - 4 months later, we had two more babies from the mother (incest, nice) and 4 from the other female. Overrun with the things for a while!

Loved my GPs though. They can have fab personalities and I love their little chirrups and squeaks.

With regards to feeding, we used to give ours the GP dry food in one bowl, then a bowl with some fresh stuff in. Ours particularly loved celery (they especially loved the little leaves on the celery), dandelion leaves, carrots, round lettuces, apples, and we found they LOVED melon rinds. Don't give them anything which is acidic like citrus fruits.

We also gave them a little pile of hay each day in the corner of their cage during the winter, so they could either eat it or use it as extra bedding.

He/She's cute :D is it a boy or a girl?
