I've still got the now dance 91 cassette compilation I was bought by my sister for Christmas one year, but I do prefer things that were unexpected a little more.
I picked up a didjits ep a few years back for a fiver which was already a great find for the price.
It turned out to be a promo copy with a typewriter written letter from the band/label that blew me away having known it wasn't there. It was typical of everything from the time I loved about the music scenes, regardless of what you liked, the zines and other pre-internet comms channels were all great, awesome little glimpses into the past (...some may even say a better time!
