Hi Folks,

Just having a discussion in the office about toys you got for Christmas in the 80's and one of the guys remembers getting an aircraft carrier that fired a harrier jumpjet up what he best described as "fishing line" which you tied to the top of a door/window. The aircraft would reach the top, turn round then you would have to land the harrier back on the aircraft carrier using a joy stick attached to the ship.

Anyone remember what this was called as it sounds really cool, we seem to think it was made by mattel. All our google searches have come up negative.

Thanks
B

Airfix Super FlightDeck indeed. Pretty sure it was a F4 Phantom rather than a Harrier. James May did a bit about it in his Top Toys program that will probably get repeated over Xmas. Apparently he pestered his mum for it for weeks and then was completely let down when he got it :D

Yep, same here although I think I had flight deck, the earlier version which didn't fire the plane up the line, you had to have someone do it for you :)

Out of curiosity how did the joy stick actually work I cant really figure it out from the pictures?

Left right for left right, pull back to make the line taught to add height, push forward to slacken the line to lower height. So simple but awesome even if much like most 70s games the reality lagged behind the promise.
