Name that PS2 RPG game from my memory

I don't remember a lot of it but the bits I do remember are as follows:

The main character had white/blonde hair
I seem to remember time travel
I remember something about an Alchemist
I remember there being a clock tower

I know it isn't a lot to go on but it's all I remember.

Edit: It wasn't Full Metal Alchemist.

I was really young when the PS2 was mainstream so I only ever played what my brother bought.

However, I'm going through the catalogue of RPGs on the PS2 and I'm overwhelmed by the choice and quality of story etc. JRPG fanboy? Perhaps. Admirer of a good story? Definitely.

Not sure if that was on topic or not.

I remember playing this, was a great game, really immersive and deep. I never got the good ending though.
