Name the artist...

I'm trying to remember who does those (watercolour?) paintings, very grey and drab, with elongated human figures in them.

I thought it was LS Lowry but I'm having difficulty digging up any evidence.

Any art buffs care to put me out of my misery?

My first thought was Munch tbh.

There was an English artist on the news a month or so back, who has a very similar style to Lowry.

He was worried that his paintings will be lost as no one is buying them.
