Name the (terrible) song

In the 2000s and into the 2010s there was a bunch of bands that rode of the back of The Strokes but were absolutely terrible… we got this sort of ‘lad / jock’, ‘we go out dancing’ theme of music with lots of football chant ‘woooooaaahs’. The Enemy were a particularly bad band for this. Thankfully, this has really gone out of fashion.

One such song that really singed my ears and made me think ‘wow that is really ****’ was a song with an ‘a cappella’ segment that basically went:

“Mah mah mah mooooowwww!!!”
*music*
“Mah mah mah mah mah mah mah mowww”

I have never found what it was, but presumably someone on here can identify it.

Anyone? Maybe it’ll turn out to be a good song / band, who knows!

Ah the Google ‘hum a song’ feature actually found it for me!

It’s Henrietta by The Fratellis.


It’s not aggressively offensive until the aforementioned horrible bit, I suppose…

Amazing that google could find it by humming when I couldn’t with using words :)

Wow I think he may even be worse than the dude from fallout boy for bad elocution :D
 
I must confess…

I’ve always liked Chelsea Dagger (by the Fratellis) as a dumb single. It’s the absolute worst of what I was talking about on paper - yet just about pulls it off. Still, that’s my tolerance for it all exhausted.

Does anyone remember this?

Finally, my taste in music is supreme and immune to criticism. There is no ‘opinion’ :p

@Sinbad2000 hmm that doesn’t bother me so much, perhaps for unjustifiable reasons… but I’ll try :)

There is so much more sonically going on in that one. The ‘tremelo’ effect on the vocals at the start created a weird sound, using the vocals as an ‘effect’, but yes the ‘ooo aaa!’ in the chorus is less than ideal.

Ok here’s one I think we can all agree on as being… just… what.


Edit - as silly as that^^^ song is, the story behind Wet Leg as a band is actually pretty cool. Two people pushing for success just decided to mess around and inadvertently found success that way. I dig it.

After first watching 'Chaise Longue' and 'Wet Dream' on YouTube I felt they were a novelty act, a pastiche. However their debut album is superb, my favourite of last year.

I found myself listening to their album the other night, it's surprisingly decent.
