My sister (not very pc savvy) is with Namesco and recently asked to move and was told it will cost her £120, she is on the monthly option as well. I can't see anything on their site about this cost but I think they may be talking about canceling the service rather than migration.

If anyone here uses Namesco and could help me out I'd be grateful.

Names Co have more than a few unusual bits and pieces in their contracts so it is difficult to be 100% accurate without knowing more about how your Sister started her contract with them.

Did she migrate to them from another ISP?

If not did she get a 'free' ADSL activation on her line?

When did she first get service from them?

She migrated from Virgin about 6 months ago as it was on the monthly contract. I've fired an email off to them anyway.

Working from memory then I think that leaves her with a £20 cancellation charge as she migrated in and stayed less than 12 months and worst case an extra months rental charge so nowhere near the £120 she was quoted.

It is possible to get past £120 for people who did not migrate in and then cancel rather than migrate out so as long as they are clear that she wants to migrate not cancel the price should come down.

She sent me the email she received from them and it looks as though they are looking at canceling the adsl rather than migrating out. I'll have to get her to ring them and let them know she wants to migrate and not cancel.

Best do that quickly as having already placed a cease order is one of the very few valid reasons for refusing to issue a MAC so hopefully they've not gone ahead and done that yet.
