Hi

I am working in South Africa for the next few months, and me and a few workmates are thinking of heading up to Namibia over Easter... Who has been there? What is it like? Any tips etc? We are thinking of staying in Swakopmund and seeing the namib desert and perhaps heading up the Fish River Canyon and going up to the Skeleton Coast.

Not really looking to do the whole safari park thing and have already been to national parks like Pillanesburg/ Kreuger in ZA where I have seen everything :)

Also looking to head up to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe in May- time but that's for another thread :D

Thanks

True, everyone I've spoken to from SA wants to leave.
Well shows how much you lot know doesn't it?

NOT everyone wants to leave at all... Absolutley nothing wrong with South Africa, racism towards whites is not prevelant, and it's only dangerous if you're stupid.

Thanks Paulus- look forward to it.

i did a tour, driving from kenya down to south africa. (keyna, uganda, tanzania, malawi, zambia, zimbabwe, botswana, namibia and south africa)

swakopmund in namibia was totally amazing. the sand dunes are like something from another world. one of the best days there, we did sandboarding (like snowboarding) in the morning, quad biking in the afternoon and then a skydive at sunset followed by a barbq and then on to a club.

it was a while ago now but can highly recommend it.

as for south africa, i actually felt quite safe there. I was in cape town and moved along the garden route staying in different hostels by the sea.

probablly a little different in jo'burg. but i wouldnt let it stop you seeing such a beautiful country.
Great, Thanks!

Well I've been now, had a great time saw some beautiful scenery, and did some pretty awesome stuff :) Would officially recommend it to anyone :D
