Narrow cases..?

I currently have a small format case and am starting to think that a larger case (mainly as I want a better graphics card and will upgrade at the same time - at the moment I have a 1050 which is short yet fills all the available space)
However, my problem is that the computer sits by my feet in the footwell of my desk where my legs go and I'd like to keep as much space there as possible.
Current case is 85mm wide. It seems that full tower cases are around 220mm wide, and mid cases are around 150 - 200mm wide.
I've got loads of space for both height and depth - are there any cheap cases that are closer to 100mm wide that anyone knows of..?
Failing that any suggestions or problems to look out for if adapting a case - It might be quite fun to butcher something and to be honest I really don't care what it looks like as it'll hardly ever be seen.
Thanks for any help!

When I think narrow case, have been looking for excuse to build in Lian Li SUP 01. But thats 212mm wide, so pretty much normal

85mm? 2U server format is about that size. Recently some 2U cases oriented for desktop components have been out. Linus did a few, even 1U hack jobs.

Is wall mount an option?
Thanks for your reply.
Wall mount not really possible due to shelving and printer.
I could go for a mid case at 150mm-ish wide if necessary but would prefer something slimmer.
One question - what is 2Uor 1U? As you can see, I'm a total beginner in all this!

Again, thank you, it's much appreciated!
I'll take a look at your links, cheers.

Just to update this, I downloaded a new version of Acdsee to see if that helped and it is so much better than mine, so I've bought a copy and problem seems to be solved.
I'm still going to get a couple of new m2 drives and plan an upgrade to AM5 sometime in the new year.
Thanks for all the help!
