I was clearing off about 2tb of data from a 2.7tb NAS and after deleting it, it sent it to the trash on the nas. So i went on to the web interface and emptied the trash. The free space indicator did not update and the contents of the trash remained. I rebooted the nas and tried to empty the trash again, it says it was successful but the data still remained. So in my infinite wisdom i thought a quick disk check would solve it. So i ran the disk check :( after reading up on their forums a disk check can take up to 24 hours...

Can i just turn it off and back on from the unit itself or should i leave it too run through? There is no active data on the disk, it is just used for some software storage and some disk backups that are not up to date.

I'd let it run through.

Not the best solution but I wouldn't want to add something else to the list of problems.

Let it run and if its noisy cover it with a mattress or foam insulation should dampen the noise.

A disk wipe would be quicker but this could wipe a raide setup aswell as damage how it's setup.
