Any help or input appreciated

So...

I have a NAS Drive that I want to use to store all of my films/documents/music/photos on, however I need to know the best way to go about this although I'm not sure it is even possible!

Set up:

iMac - Constantly attached to NAS storage.
MBP - Used both in and out of the house.

When using the iMac I assume that I can put my iTunes library, iPhoto library, Apperture library, and documents folder on the NAS drive and get it to look there when their respective programs open up. Easy peasey!

Now... I can also assume I can do the same for my MBP however, what happens when I want to go out of the house and use my MBP in the coffee shop? I can't look at my photos... I can't listen to my music... I can't find my documents etc... Is there anyway around this? I almost want my MBP to act like an iPad/iPhone and store a local copy of certain files. The main thing I want is music on my MBP, so is it possible to get the MBP to act like an iPad/iPhone and sync certain playlists of music so it has a local copy that I can use while out and about?

Sorry if this is confusing!

Take a look at some of the Synology NAS devices. They act as a webserver for your stuff so you can view it remotely.

I think a lot of other NAS products have something similar.

Yeah I've thought of that, but I would ideally like local access for when Im out and about and there isn't any internet connection. :(

iPhoto library also needs to be on a HFS formatted drive if I remember correctly. I tried moving it to an exFat one so both my windows and OSX partition could see it but it wouldn't play ball
