Hi

We would like to add a NAS to our network with a capacity of around 2TB.

It will be used to backup the server to and as space to put shared drives on.

Which NAS would you suggest?

We were thining of a Buffalo Terrasataion but were told

"Remember the Buffalo Terrastation disks are not formatted NTFS. You need an NTFS formatted NAS to support permissions on subfolders and files within a Windows share, even if it does allow AD logins."

Thanks

They can be formatted in NTFS and windows permissions can be applied - I've got one here

However, I wouldnt use one for anything remotely critical - put a server in

Can't you use RSYNC to synch the NAS with the data on your file server? For shared drives, the NAS you linked in your first post includes SAMBA 3 which can authenticate to AD and then you can assign share permissions that way.
