I have Mac Mini and Various Windows machines on my network, I wish to get a nas drive, that both os's can read and right to, but I would also like to have files larger then 4gb's.

I have heard Nas Drives that support Linux EXT2/3 will do what i want Is this right?

I have a NAS from synology and I can access it from my mac, PC's and laptop. I also have files bigger than 4gig on there.

not exactly, it's an abbreviation for Server Message Block i.e. the protocol windows uses for network file sharing etc.

Samba is an opensource implementation of aforementioned protocol

im kinda stuck between getting the synology 106 and the icy box 2000

Have a look at the QNAP NAS. It is similar to the Synology but is fanless.
