Hi all.

I have a NAS with 12 bays. They are 2.5". Please note that the pics I show will not be how it is running now. It used to have my TR in, but I removed and got rid of it because it was silly overkill.

Right now however it has something like a 3470? in it?. It is an old DDR3 based I5. It has 8gb RAM and is some old Dell board IIRC that I had to hack around to get to start. Any way, recently I built a TV PC then upgraded it, so I was left with an 11400F (which is a pain, please read on) and 32gb RAM. Four 8gb sticks. It's DDR4, BTW, so potentially a huge upgrade.

Also in the rig are two LSI SAS cards flashed into IT mode, that connect up to 12 bays in the front and two 3.5" spinning drives inside. The bays are mostly full of old SSDs and spanned etc.

Now, given I have the 11400F left over after buying an 11700KF for the TV gamer, and four 8gb sticks of DDR4 after going 32gb on all of my gaming rigs I bought this from OCUK.

Now the problem here is going to be the lack of iGPU. Once I fit the two SAS cards? no room for GPU.

So I formulated a plan. I have seen these.

They are x4 to X4 PCIE. I have two options. Obs I would get a better one with a ribbon allowing me to mount what I want wherever I want, but these options will be.

1. Run the two SAS cards in the slots available and then use that to run the GPU. Or.
2. Run the GPU in the top slot, then use that to connect one of the SAS cards.

Can any one see a reason why this would not work in either config? if you do please help.

Thank you for reading.

Me again. Apparently it will work. I had a thought though. I have a mining riser or two left that I used to use for running sound cards away from the mobo. So I got this.

And will try one of those for a GPU signal first. I mean heck, it's free right?
