I'm going to be setting up a NAS solution at home very soon so I'm looking at what different software I can use.

The box running the software is likely to have a sata hardware raid so I don't need it to do software raid, just serve up windows file shares. The idea with this is that the machine will be low power so I don't really want to put windows on it if possible.

What exactly is the box doing? If just storage then any PC can just copy to shared folders. No software needed (except for the OS itself of course)
