Hey

So I'm quite new to nas. trying to find a nas for local network with the perks that we need without all the extra junk software and so on.

What I was thinking of was:
TS-831X Qnap 1.7ghz variant
8x hdd in raid 10 for speed/savety
1x M.2 1TB ssd samsung for cache - expansion card
3x 10gbe sfp for data transfer - 2 build in 1 expansion card

In theory this should provide solid read for up to 2gb/s via network. But the question is. Can the CPU handle it?

The new upgraded model runs a 1.7 ghz Alpine AL-314 I cant find many revies on it so I'm stuck in nowhere :- (

This nas seems to be a dream, at 700-800£ range for 4-8gb variants.

Other options with more powerfull CPUS involve intel/amd i3/i5 etc etc but are prices at 1k+ and as far I can tell don't offer the same functionality, like cached m.2 + 30gbe connection.

I'm a bit lost as to what to do :- (

Thanks for ur help info!

Regards
Dariusz

You haven't mentioned what its for, so hard to give advice. If its just plain storage then its fine, but if you want to transcode movies or something then its not enough. Also you mentioned RAID10, with 8 disks you will lose half the space, so this is an utter waste of storage unless you really must have this.
