I know nothing about NAS, but is it possible to get a NAS that supports a bittorrent client? Would be great to have a silent download box.

Otherwise can anyone recommend a normal NAS storage box I can add my own drive too?

Cheers

That would be brill idea... never heard of one that does to be honest.. I use a linksys nlu2 find that very good takes two drives up to 500g each and as long as you up the firmware first.. supports all windows format.

You can run a bittorrent client on a nslu2. There is special firmware called unslung that turns the nslu2 into a fully fledged linux box. linky

Synology & Qnap all have Bittorrent downloaders.

Both are very good products, they do an itunes server as well as a few other features in addition to bittorrent. great value but not too many suppliers in the UK last time I looked. fortunately OCUK are one of them! :D

I'd recommend the synology it works straight out of the box, had one for about 2 months now and I've been over the moon with it.
The NSLU2 takes a bit to get your head around, if you want a plug and go system get the synology.

Yeah true, Synology is best for the n00bs but if expandability is your bag and you know your way around a linux box, then NSLU2 for the win.

I have a linksys nslu2 and tried unslung but was wondering if anyone had there's setup in a different way and if so what. Anyone tried the debian offerings? I haven't tried torrents on it yet.

I have a Synology 101J with a 250GB IDE Drive

When Synology released the ability to use the Download function I have never looked back.

Very easy to use no more using Bitcomet, all you do is download the torrent then open download re-direct and point it to the torrent file, then turn your pc off go to bed and when you come down the following day

File Finished and on your Synology

Download upto 10 files at once

go with the Synology DiskStation the newer models now support SATA drives upto 750GB

Hope that helps
