Evening
My up until now reliable NAS4220 has decided to play dead. It actually started yesterday when I couldn't access it from my Xbox 360 (I use it as a media streamer) but I thought nothing of it. Fast forward to today, and on starting my PC it hung at the command window that maps the NAS drives. It's completely locked up.
No response from the power button so I pulled the plug on it. Plugged it back in, hit the power button and the blue light came on... Briefly. Then flickered off and on again constantly. Once it stayed on and the unit started to boot into the OS, but suddenly lost power. I tried the power supply from my eSATA enclosure that sits above it, but the connections must be wrong because nothing happened. The rear fan doesn't spin up at all in any situation.
My assumption is the power supply has died. It has always made a hissing sound, but this now turns into a high pitched screech when I hit the power button.
The unit has 2 spanned 500GB Seagate HDDs, and I bought them all on the 27th September last year from OcUK.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Matt
