Hi all, just recently my computer has been locking up on me. When it does so an audible high pitched 'beeeeeeep' eminates from inside my PC. Any ideas what it is? Is it bad news? (aside from the crashing :o )

temperature probably! what mobo you got? how long the beep last? is it a single beep? each mobo is different but you can get the details of the whoever made it

temps were around 50'C at the time, it's one long beep. It lasts for as long as it is till I reset my computer. Mobo in sig.

Hi I had a similar thing when I first built and was overclocking my current machine (see sig) always happened when I pushed the FSB too high would crash and make a continual beeeeeeeep until I reset or power cycled it, lower fsb higher ram voltage and chipset voltage needed in my! case ,not sure if its the same but maybe a pointer.

Thanks

I just had exactly the same issue, 1 long beep. Upon investigation the fans were dead in the PSU so I RMA'ed the entire system back to OC who are dealing with it now. Is your PSU all ok?

Previously, some abortive attempts at overclocking an AMD 64 gave a 2 tone siren - which apprently is the CPU over heating.
