Sorry if this has been asked before.

On my system tab-network settings-test xbox live connection my NAT is coming up as strict(previously 'moderate)'. I now cant connect to any ranked matched on gears of war. It worked fine earlier and for the past few days. my brothers back from uni and is sat on the internet now. :(

this have anything to do with it?

thanks

Benny

If your router's not on the supported list like mine even forwarding the right ports might not make it 'open'. I have to set my 360 IP to DMZ to get the 'open' status.

ahh rite thanx guys, a friends guna come over soon n sort the ports out to see if that helps. It let me connect shortley after i created this post, think its being picky.

My ports are normally fine and im always in the DMZ, but today for some reason the NAT is showing as strict and I can't do any private chats etc. I've double checked that the ports are right and the DMZ is on so it may just be random whether it wants to work.

xbox IP is viewable in Network Settings. Also in the same area are Network Tests which will test if your xbox is being restricted.

Ive had this problem with my linksys wrt54g a few times. Its gone from open nat, to moderate and sometimes strict without changing anything on the router.

I normally re-set the router back to factory state, and then change the settings again, ie DMZ etc and that normally solves the problem.
It is strange how one day it works, then come the next day without changing anything it all goes belly up.
