Hi,
I posted a thread a while back and managed to get my 360 working but the 360 is reporting that the NAT settings are strict so I can't join many games online.

So my topology is:

BT home Hub which is connected to a Netgear router/switch which is connected to my 360. I have to have static settings on my 360 otherwise it fails on the DNS.

The settings on my 360 are:

IP: 192.168.1.3
Gateway: 192.168.1.254 (this is my home hub)
DNS: 192.168.1.254

It's getting rather annoying because really the simplest option would be a switch but with no cash I can't buy one. I am also finding it a pain to keep restarting the routers.

I don't think any of the problem here is my BT home hub but it's all to do with me and the settings on the router. Because it's a ADSL router and switch there are a lot of settings.

Anyone think they can help me out?

Cheers

nat settings been strict means that its a firewall issue somewhere. check the firewalls and port forwards if you can.

yep ideally all the ports outoing need to be allowed and the following ports must be opened:

TCP 3074
UDP 3074
UDP 88

this can be done manually or sometimes UPnP will sort this out for you

Hey guys.

OK I just did some troubleshooting. I disconnected the netgear router and plugs the 360 straight into the home hub. For some reason it would only get a open NAT when on automatic. It assigns itself the IP address of .64. So I tried that manually and it works. So its not my netgear router but it might have something to do with my home hub. So I will have a look later but I know all the right ports are open to my 360's MAC address. Might be my home hub which needs a restart.

zen62619 I came across that link to. It doesn't work for me.

But thanks guys. I'm happy that it works now. I know nothing about networks so they get me a bit agitated sometimes :p
