basically i play modern warfare 2. But i have trouble sometimes joining games because of this. My housemate has his set to open but has no idea how or why. I dont see how it can be the router if we are using the same 1 and his is set to open.

I am in the process of attemping port forwarding but have no idea what i am doing

Please help x

if you are both playing at the same time trying to use the same ports then it could be that, if not he just knows how to forward ports better than you do

TCP
27014-27050

UDP
1500, 3005, 3101, 27000-27030, 28960

home hub asks me for a port range, translate to and trigger port
I also have to select a protocol and trigger protocol from a selection of TCP/UDP/all

any ideas?

Yeh i find many routers just dont let you have 2 xbox's with open NAT's at the same time, port forwarding or no port forwarding. Invest in a decent router, ie something that doesnt come free with the service, and you should be fine.

Shouldnt need port forwarding, if you just enable UPnP it should work.

We have 4 xbox's in this house all with open nats using an apple airport extreme.

Dont mean to hijack the threat but ive got the same problem with my Thomson TG585 v7. Ive set the ports up for the 360 and its still set to strict on the 360. Its only happened in the last week or so too which is kinda odd.

. All my house mates have it on open but havent done anything. I was thinking firewall? or something along those lines. So i think its my end on the router
