National Geographic Front Cover

But, one of my photos (Eilean Donan Castle) is on the front cover of this month's Spanish edition of National Geographic magazine ... which is nice

How were the rights gathered if you don't mind me asking? Was it on a stock site or did they contact you directly? If the former how did you find out they'd used it?

I use a stock agency, who in turn upload to various stock sites.
I was told by the agency, the magazine found/bought it from Getty's site.

The magazine altered the sky and cropped it from a landscape orientation to portrait to fit the magazine.

The agency told me about the magazine. As it was featured on their (the agency's) FB page.

My cut is a three figure sum (at the low end, not the high end), I'm not sure of the exact figure, I'll know at the next quarterly pay out.
