Hi
Just on a train into London, managed to get the earlier/faster train so I will be very early for my next train which I have a reservation for.

Basically can I get on an earlier train and just not have a reservation or am I absolutely fixed to what I have?

Depends what ticket you have.
Some are locked to the train, some arent.

Whats it say, does it say something like only valid with the reservation ticket?

Do you have an advance ticket - i.e. did you get a cheap ticket with a particular time on it? If not, any train will do, but you'll lose your seats. If so, wait - your advance ticket is only valid on that service and you will have to cough up for a full-rate ticket on board.

It's always worth asking the conductor person when the train comes, I'm normally allowed on if I ask, unless the train is packed.
