Native h.264 in Vista?

I'm wondering if Microsoft will ever officially support H.264 in Vista like it does in Windows 7. In particular the Media Center (TV Pack).

I know you can get a hacked x86 beta DLL that works fine, so the technology is there. But do you think they will just skip Vista features now and just work on Win7?

It's a bit crap having to wait and pay for Windows 7, when all I want to do is have BBC HD working on my media center...

Tried MPC Home Cinema? It gives an error message at first, but then plays what I've thrown at it fine.

I doubt if they'll add extra multimedia features into Vista now, what would be the gain for them? And yes, it is a bit crap, h.264 support should have been there from the beginning.

MediaPortal would be the obvious alternative, but I suppose that's not really the point.

I just like Vista Media Center.

I've tried a few, Power Cinema works well with all my tuners (and BBC HD), but none look as good as VMC.

And even my 2 year old son knows how to view Cbeebies on the media center, he'd flip out if I got something new!
