In effect we could create super humans eventually, instead of finding a cure for cancer just never breed people that get it for example.

If it's natural selection wouldn't the cows want less muscle so we wouldn't kill them for their meat? I thought it was all about survival

if you look at it that way then infact the cows do 'want' more muscle. The ones with more are allowed to breed and pass on their genes and therefore 'survive'
