Natwest "arranged overdraft fee"

Like utility providers they should provide a letter detailing the exact changes.

You really think BT or British Gas would get away with something like what Natwest have done? A cynical person would say such poor communication actually could make them more money than good communication.

If in the OPs case all they got was an email, I suspect they would win a FOS complaint.

Yes they would as email is a valid form of communication. You can even request no paper letters these days. Just foolishness from you not giving as much weight to emails.

Well the OP can be a test case and put this forward to the FOS and see what the decision is on the matter.

I can guess what the FOS will say.

The problem is that Natwest will admit fault and refund the OP before it even gets to that.
 
I have an old Natwest account I don't use and I saw this change to the charges too.

The fact the OP is now considering a move to a Platinum account shows they are certainly dealing with their target market well. Is there a Darwin Bank?
