navigation bars

hi,

im looking for some good tutorials on how to create navigation bars which contain a series of buttons that, when rolled over, display another subnav bar in below it.

I know this will involve some javascript.

Im keen to create my own version of this and dont really want to use any existing code snippet from someone else - want to work things out for myself if possible!
