sweet jesus, i knew kobe was good but not really as explosive as this. Maybe Iverson would have been more expected.

but total respect, Kobe hit 81 points in Lakers win over the raptors last night 122-104 - 55 of them in the second half. (previous high of 62 a few months back - even though he didnt play in the 4th).

kobe now places as the second highest scorer ever (Wilt got 100 in 1962). Perhaps surprisingly Jordan maxed at 69.

just had to tell someone. more info available in the usual places.

Too bad there are still people who will critisize him for that performance. :(

Hey I am not critisizing just wondering what the rest of the team feels. I means it was hardly a close game.

Good on him, I am glad to see he is doing well but also think he needs to bring himself down a few pegs.

I didnt see the game so maybe all the times he scored were just begging for him to shoot but I doubt it and I bet near the end he decided not to pass it a lot and go for the points himself.

I'm not saying you. ;)

I was talking about other NBA players/coaches and some Kobe haters in other forums. :D

Jordan was god, yeah, now he's retired, Kobe's god. :D

Edit: He was criticized by some for not trying to make history a month back when he had 62 points in 3 quarters, he sat out for the 4th as they've already built a 20+ point lead. It Sunday's game, they were down by almost 15-20 I think before Kobe started going mental. :D

scores
half time - raptors 63-49 lakers
end of the third - raptors 85 - 91 lakers
final 122-104

KB:
26 points in first half
27 3rd (team: 42)
28 4th (team: 31)

(18/20 from free throw line
7/13 from 3 point land)

its also worthwhile to note that lakers appear to need kobe this season as a big scorer;

81 points vs. Raptors (1/22/2006)
62 points vs. Mavs (12/20/2005)
51 points at Kings (1/19/2006)
50 points at Clippers (1/7/2006)
48 points vs. Sixers (1/6/2006)

and as a final note (snipped from aol news);

Bryant played nearly 42 minutes, going the entire second half until being lifted by coach Phil Jackson.

Jackson coached Jordan and the Chicago Bulls to six championships in the 1990s and the Lakers, with Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal, to three more titles, from 2000-02.

"That was something to behold," Jackson said. "It was another level. I've seen some remarkable games, but I've never seen one like that before."

...let the basketball discussions continue :D
