NCP file for administration

Because they dont own the car park buildings, they have to lease them and its those landlords that are getting greedy.

Going into admin maybe a good mechanism to renogotiate those lease terms.

Seems an absurd middle man, why would the owners simply not run them as a car park and make bank? You need like 10 staff for each one, gonna be on minimum wage.

One near me has 800 spaces, £34 for all day. Higher rates per hour for shorter times. Assuming it's full 50% of the time, at the lower 24h rate on average that's 4.95 million a year with a wage cost of £250k. Some electric, water, maintenance supplies and it should be massively profitable. Buildings have been there decades so presumably paid off.

Fwiw, they died because they were bought by venture capital, got saddled with debt and that sunk them.

**** em anyway but, also, **** VC too
We need to ban Venture capital from buying UK businesses. It is invariably asset stripping and loading with debt to pay unsustainable dividends followed by bankruptcy. These should be businesses that pensions invest in for reliable long term returns.

You're a dreamer if you think the government will do anything to in any way help the people, if anything they might force all people with driveways to make it an NCP driveway

Used NCP a few years ago at Manchester Airport as they were cheaper than meet and greet etc, they were basically fine but the operation did seem a bit... unprofessional. Switched to the airport's own internal one and it was easier, and worth the extra £30 or so.
How car it be worth an extra £30? Drive in. Park car. Go to terminal. I don't get anyone who doesn't book the cheapest car park!

But, NPC are notoriously expensive for me!

the NCP one you have to have them bus you in and then phone them when you get out of the terminal to pick you up, the official one it was a 2 minute walk into the terminal and then you get your keys from the locker when you pick it back up.

There's one local NCP I actually don't mind in Bolton. £3 for the day and it's nice and secure plenty of parent and child/disabled bays.
But on the whole yes they are terrible.

Lots of hate for NCP here. Personally I think they were just as bad as the other parking companies I have to deal with, but not worse.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news to the people revelling in the the demise of NCP, but their replacements are unlikely to be any better!

I've had to contest fines from them a couple of times over the years. One was in Cardiff for an apparently overstay. No problem I'll send them the receipt, proof of payment, hours booked etc. I just got a flat rejection Email back despite me providing all the evidence.

Had to go through POPLA in the end. Horrible company.
