I fancy getting a 67mm thread fixed ND filter for daylight long exposures and was thinking of getting a 10 stop circular screw on. On talk photography, a Haida filter was recommended, it's about £38. I was wondering if that's the minimum I should spend for a good quality one? Anyone know if K&F Concept are worth buying? They have a 10 stop for £26.99.

Exactly that yes. I can't compare it to anything as I've not had one before, but it's helped significantly with my long exposures.

Best to get a larger size and then a set of step up filters so you can use it on multiple lenses.

If you have a 77m, filter then you can use it everything 77mm and smaller. Filter rings are a few quid a set.

Yeah, I've got two 67mm thread lenses (Sigma 16mm and Sony 70 to 350mm) and a Sigma 56mm with a 55mm filter thread. So was thinking of getting a 67mm filter, and a 55mm to 67mm step up ring. Might at some point buy the Sigma 30mm F1.4 which has a 52mm filter thread and could also buy a 52 to 67mm step up ring.

I doubt I'll buy any other lenses so probably won't have anything bigger than 67mm.

I just bought the Haida Slim Pro ll 67mm in the end as I found it for £29 on One Stop Digital including free shipping. Grey import so cheaper.

Wow yeah, massive difference.

Hey Raymond, I was thinking about what you said regarding step up rings. Looking at all my lenses for both my Canon and Sony cameras, three of those lenses have 49, 55 and 62mm filter threads. And there's one more lens that if I buy it will have a 52mm filter thread. I've looked on ebay and no name step up rings for those four lenses cost about £2.90 to £3.80 each. Shall I just buy those? It comes to about £14.

Or I can buy an 18 piece set of step up and step down rings for £20, but it means stacking several rings for some lenses. Like 49mm to 67mm is about five step up rings. Maybe that could cause vignetting of a poorer quality photo?

I think step UP is what you need, Step down is useless…I can't imagine when you want to put a 49mm filter on a 58mm filter ring lens.

I got these.

Good point, yeah, I won't need step down rings. That's a great price for that set you linked, cheaper than buying 4 separate step up rings.

So, if I want to put my 67mm ND filter on my Canon 50mm lens with its 49mm filter thread, that means screwing together all five rings from the bottom of that stack in the photo on your link. Will that affect image quality since the ND filter will probably sit about an inch forward of the lens? I must admit, it looks pretty cool seeing several rings stacked on the camera.

Well...can only find out 1 way! In theory, any dirt will appear easier as you are getting closer to the focal plane, depends how close the subject is and how much depth you have set the focus.
