Okay, so i been looking around at parts for a couple of months or so, and been changing parts over so much, the biggest problem was if i was going to have Sli or not ? :S im still not 100% sure...but that will determine what mobo i get, so what do you think, will Sli be worth it between now and 2-3 years time? or should i just get 1 kick ass Graphics Card on an upgrade? ... if so i will stick with a Asus P5K Premium WiFi-AP Intel P35 board....if not a Striker Extreme..

But here is the build i have now.. would it all work together okay ? :)

- Asus P5K Premium/WiFi-AP Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
- Samsung SM-245B 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST3500320AS)
- Asus DRW-2014L1T 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter (Black/Silver) - Retail
- Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
- Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)
- OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK)
- Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570 Black No PSU
- Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM - 1Pk (66I-00788)

I don't mind paying a little extra for some parts as hopefully they will last me a few years just as the PC i have now has, but just not sure whether to get a mobo which is more future proof for Sli or not ? :S Any tips?

Also unsure on what extra fans i'd need to get for the case, and which would be the best CPU fan to go for..maybe the Zalman CNPS9700-NT nVidia Tritium one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-027-ZA

Cheers everyone.

It will work fine together. My preferred CPU cooler at the moment is the Tuniq Tower.

I wouldn't get a GTX right now since the new G92-based GTSes are beating them in games like Crysis whilst using less power and dissipating less heat. I don't think that SLi is worth it, generally. I think you'd be much better off if you get a 512 MiB GTS now, and another top-shelf card in a year or two.
Also, some people are reporting firmware-related issues with the 500 MB 7200.11s. You might want to hold off on that or go for a WD AAKS disk instead.

Nice one, ill take that into account, thanks for the help :) i did look at the Tuniq Tower, wasn't sure whether to go for it or not after reading some comments, but i'll see...too bad the thermalright ultra 120 extreme is out of stock atm...

And thanks for pointing out the HDD! changed it now :)

Might be worth getting 2 hard drives, that way you have better performance with the pagefile being on a seperate disk. Also it can be invaluable with any windows install problems.

And SLi is definitiely not worth it, the 680i doesn't even support quad penryn. Stick with the P5K.

Thanks for the feedback, hmm yeah i might get 2 of those hard drives then that i have selected if its worth it .. :)

From what I've read; wouldn't the GTX go ahead of the GTS at 1920x1200 with AA etc? He's put a 24" monitor in there...

Yeah thats what i thought =C0ld c4Th0d3= , im sticking with that card anyway :P

Oh yeah, on OC's next day free delevery they are doing atm, any idea around what time they normally deliver?

Actually i think ill get an additional 150GB raptor drive then for the OS..?

notice the 24" screen he is buying.... therefore the GTX will be better as it works better at higher res!

hmm nice .. :)

Oh by the way...with the stuff i have should i stick with the 620W PSU or go for the 750W one ? i wouldn't mind paying a little more if its worth it...what would be the advantages/disadvantages?

Thanks
