Nearly all program shortcuts in start menu have gone missing

Picked up a virus which i quickly cleaned up, but now all the shortcuts in the Start menu-->All Programs are missing.
Any idea of a quick to get them all back?

Other than system restore (not really worth it for shortcuts), all that immediately comes to mind is just..redo them..

I screwed up my start menu and I got so fed up I just reinstalled Vista lol. Pretty pathetic I know.
