Hi Guys

I think it's time for an update in the new year, I am a little out of touch, I will have around 1.5K hopefully.

I am hoping to use my GTX 1070 from my current build for the time being, I would like to start playing at 1440p with high refresh monitor, which will be required. I don't require a OS or Keyboard and Mouse.
I also have the PC case - Zalman Z9 Plus Tower, I am not sure if this is going to be good enough for the new build, same with the 650W PSU.

PC will be mostly used for playing games, and the some video editing for youtube.

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks

Hi,

You will be fine with the Zalman Z9 Plus Tower, 650W PSU and GTX 1070.
The budget of 1.5K allows for more freedom when choosing the components, and you can take some really good ones:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,407.49 (includes shipping: £12.60)

G-Sync monitors are expensive and TBH, I have never been a fan or a supporter of neither Freesync nor G-Sync. Don't know why but I am get used to gaming without them.

Thanks, what would you guys recommend if I didn't get the new screen yet and just the PC bits? i9? I am currently on a 1080p 60hz screen.

Thanks

If you can find a cheaper G-Sync monitor in the January sales, I'd get one now and then get a Ryzen 3 in 6 months.

You'll be surprised how well your 1070 does at 1440p with G-Sync, check my sig. I ain't upgrading graphics anytime soon with the current NV offerings and the fact that this system still does extremely well.

Hi, I play a lot of BF V and I've got to have it on low, this still sometimes drops to about 40fps.

yes same budget

would only be for a short period of time, I would get a new monitor maybe 6 months after.

Hi,

The following makes a lot of sense for a upgrade:

Hi, I play a lot of BF V and I've got to have it on low, this still sometimes drops to about 40fps.

So in my case, I run it all on ultra and probably get between 50 and 70fps, dipping to around 40 in heavy action, that with no frame cap. However, I do cap the frames at 60, it just seems to achieve a smoother all round experience with that Frostbite engine. The G-Sync clearly helps with the 40-60 fps range, the game play is smooth enough totally. And I'm fussy with that stuff, has to play smooth. Also play a lot of Project Cars 2.

In fact, I'm gonna go have a round. Orbitalwalsh has made a good suggestion above too.

Depends on .the video editing. If it's 4k and done a lot or heavy editing the .32GB , if not 16GB.
Xtreme kit is good, might have to run at 3800hz and will offer lowest mind frame rate specially with CPU overclocked :)

Can get 1TB SSD for £100 odd for hard to push nvme unless again. You'll be doing a lot of video work .

Would run solid though ! Thought about 2/3 TB HDD in raid unless you've got a NAS?
