Been saving up since January and been lurking the forums since then, and I'll be able to finally replace my 3 year old Packard Bell PC.

I've done a load of research, but I just want to get the specs that I'm thinking of getting with you.

I'll probably mostly be using the PC for gaming, some video editing, college work and in the future university as well as the usual stuff.

I have been able to do video editing on my Packard Bell PC (1.8GHz dual core, 2gb ddr2 RAM, *sigh*)

Before anyone mentions, I already have a graphics card. I bought the MSI Radeon 5850 back in February when there was a good deal on it, and it was an incentive to keep going. I might add another 5850 in or get a newer/better graphics card in the future (if I feel the need to).

I will be playing on a 1440x900 monitor at first, but the plan is to get a bigger (19201080) monitor in the future.

I have a mouse (<3 the Deathadder Respawn), forgot to put a keyboard in the basket, but I have an idea of which I will get, I think.

I think asking now will give me mor than enough time to make a final decision. Will be ordering the parts next week, most probably Saturday delivery to my dads ready for when I go to his for the half term holiday on the 30th.

Thanks. ^.^.

EDIT: Sorry for the small image of the basket, blame my printscreening >__>.

looks fine to me. all i'll ask is why two hard drives?

(also, do you need the lightscribe thing from that DVD drive, because without it you can save £2  :p)

I would also consider a good Z68 mobo, and a small SSD (30GB / 40GB) and use Intel's SSD caching tech.

Can probably make build with more value for money, but as it stands, it's ok. It depends what your requirements are and if you want the absolute best for the money :) There are saving to be made, but can't fault the components.

The 500GB one would be for Windows / programs / Steam games and the 1TB would be for all my media. I want to keep my photos/videos etc. on a different hard drive. I'll be recording my 360 and PS3 too.

EDIT: I probably won't need the lightscribe, but it's only £2 :P

Was looking at the Z68 and small SSDs a bit earlier today. Not sure yet, but as I said I'm not in a rush today to make my decision.

once again ive tried to get too much from your budget, but ive managed to get it down to £810. (that does say £780 in your screenshot doesnt it)

however, if you get your post count up to 250, you will be able to get free shipping, which will bring it below £800

swapped the 500gb mechanical drive for a 120gb SSD
swapped the mobo for a Z68 series (i have no idea about Z68 series motherboards, so please ask someone else about which mobo Z68 to get)
swapped the case for a far cheaper (but still really good) CM-690 II
swapped the PSU for a non modular one (simply to try and keep it in budget) XFX are a good make :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x OCZ Vertex Series 120GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-1VTX120G) £149.99
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £149.99
1 x Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £144.98
1 x Cooler Master CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case - Black £76.99
1 x XFX Pro 750W Core Edition Power Supply £72.98
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Bundle - Home Premium 64 Bit £68.40
1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache WD10EALX - OEM £48.98
1 x Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £39.98
1 x Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £23.99
1 x Sony Optiarc AD-7260S 24x DVD±RW SATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black) - OEM £17.99
Total : £810.78 (includes shipping : £13.75).

Yes that did say £780(ish).

I do think though that if do go and get the SSD, 64GB ish will be enough. Even with a 120GB I would have to keep Steam and my Steam games on the 1TB hard drive, since I know that the games I have bought on there total to about 200GB. If I need extra space in the future for media, I can get another HDD or use the external one I am using for them now.

Now to just look at Z68 motherboards and places where I could cut a bit (like the PSU. I would have put the XFX modular PSU in if it was in stock).

Thanks for the help Reaper.
