I could do with some help spending my money:D:D

I’m looking to build me a new rig in about a month and I have about 800ish quid to spend.

Kit I already have that I’m keeping from my old rig:

19” widescreen TFT
Speedlink Ultra flat metal Keyboard
Logitech MX510 mouse
Enermax liberty 500W PSU
Silver CoolerMaster Mystique Case
Silver Poineer 111D DVD writer
Silver Floppy drive

So basically im looking to get:

CPU (I’m thinking Conroe)
Mobo
Graphics card
Ram (I’m thinking 2Gb Geil DDR2)
Hard drive (I’m thinking Samsung spinpoint)

I don’t really play many games at the moment but I want to start getting into PC gaming and eventually maybe a little bit of overclocking.

Once built I’ll want to keep this system for at least a couple of years before I need to upgrade again. So hopefully my budget will allow me buy a rig that will play games to a reasonable standard for the next couple of years

Feel free to swap and change what I’ve been thinking of as you lot will know better than me.

Thanks.

I'd probably be thinking about something like this. It offers good potential for overclocking and the graphics card should be easily sufficient at the resolutions the monitor can use. :)

another quick question.

Would you buy one 300gb drive or 2 160's and raid them??

Is the extra preformance worth the extra risk of raid 0??

Sorry I totally forgot you wanted a hard drive into the budget as well. I'd probably pick the 300gb hard drive, Raid0 doesn't offer a performance benefit for all uses and unless you are working with large files you probably won't see much of a boost. :)
